Paul Møller
Biography
Paul Møller is a psychiatrist and senior researcher, former head of research at the R&D department, Division of Mental Health and Addiction, Vestre Viken Hospital Trust, Norway. He has published around 60 scientific papers, in addition to books, book chapters, psychometric instruments and conference presentations. Most of his professional work, clinical as well as in research, for more than 40 years, has been on schizophrenia and psychosis, especially early psychosis development (the prodromal phase). Møller’s doctoral thesis (2000) was one of two Scandinavian qualitative studies (the other by Josef Parnas, Copenhagen) that triggered the reinvention and revival of the phenomenological perspective on pre-psychosis; more precisely the clinical core phenomena that are today called basic self-disturbances (or anomalous self-experiences). They published the EASE interview (2005), which is highly cited, now available in 11 languages, and frequently used in many parts of the world. Recently, Møller also published the shorter screening interview SQuEASE-11 (2024), based on the EASE, as a time-saving support for busy clinicians, to get a qualified indication of the need for a full EASE interview.
